Too often do we rely on software to give us accurate information for the design of structural elements and to judge the behavior of structures under load. It is important for the practicing engineer to understand the various assumptions and theoretical approaches that go into the analysis in order to know the many possibilities as well as the limitations of this analysis method.

Dr. Kushan Wijesundara, one of Sri Lanka’s foremost academics in the field of numerical analysis will take us through the suitability and drawbacks of using the Finite Element Method in Structural Engineering applications.
